Fall and Food

Thanksgiving, of course, it's my favorite holiday! It's about Fall and Food and Harvest. All that hard work over the summer, all the miracle of seeds turning into plants turning into vegetables turning into seeds again. The portent of longer nights and shorter days sends us to a bountiful table, surrounded by friends and family. Thanksgiving signals that growth has ended with the harvest and that the earth is going to take a rest, even as our thoughts quicken anticipating the spring reawakening and our plans and dreams of next year's plantings. I am really moved by the markers and the cycles of the year echoing the markers and the cycles of life itself.

Whoa, I didn't mean to go quite that far out! I must tend to business, the practical reason I'm here is to ask you to order your Thanksgiving goodies right now. It really helps us to figure out how much of what to make.

So, here is just some of what we are going to have for you. Top left you see a Pecan Galette and a Pumpkin Galette with cream cheese filling. Next to that is a Cranberry Hazelnut quickbread. Bottom left you see rum balls and bottom right are dinner rolls made from Brewers Bread. Please note the snazzy logo done in powdered sugar, Ken made the stencil. Below is a rundown of all of our Thanksgiving products.

This Sunday the 19th, we will be treated to music by the Living Room Musicians, that wonderful band which features hammered dulcimer, recorders of various registers and percussion of various instruments. They will be playing from 11 AM to 1 PM and would love to have you join in.

Have a great feast, no matter its size or context, join us in celebrating Fall and Harvest and the coming of Winter.

Love to all of you,

From all of us
